The weather was chilly (it was February), and it even rained a little, but overcast sky was friendly to our portrait mission, as there was no harsh shadows.Ĭrystal organized the July shoot pretty quickly, with a few photographers and models she worked with before. ![]() We had a great time shooting, and she wasn't afraid to roll around in her dress, make faces and try different things. She did hair and makeup herself, and even showed up with a few props. She was one of about a dozen models I shot that day, but just about the only one who followed up with me afterward.Ī few months later, she had an idea for a shoot at a cemetery near downtown Dallas. I met her last December at a hangar shoot organized by a local photography club. That's what she does she's very passionate about modeling and keeps coming up with ideas for shoots. The third model in my July shoot (besides Elizabeth and Diana) was Crystal, who put the whole thing together. Please press "L" on your keyboard to see the image on black! Of course, at the end of the editing I saved as a sRGB JPEG for internet display. I made the eye appear red to add to the image. I added bright 105mm prime lens flare to the image in the model's hands and used a mask to remove some light around the fingers to give the impression that she's holding them. The Speedlite was triggered by a Canon ST-E2 wireless Speedlite transmitter and the Vivitar was triggered optically.Īs usual I edited the image as a 16 bit TIFF I added a lot of selective mid tone contrast enhancements and changed the shape of some things to aid with the direction of the image. To the right of the model I had a Vivitar flash at full power pointed directly at her around 15 feet away from the model. To the left of the camera I had a Canon Speedlite 430EX II at full power and at 24mm being shot into a 60" Westcott reflective umbrella around 6 feet away from the model as the key light. I shot this on a tripod using mirror lockup and a remote switch. *Aperture Value: ƒ/5.6 *ISO: 100 *Focal Length: 50mm (80mm Equivalent on 35mm Film) *Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS *Lens: EF 50mm ƒ/1.8 II *Shutter Speed: 1/200 Sec. Here is another image from the shoot with Becca, this one took around 5 hours of editing to produce! It really contrasts against the happy glamour shot I posted of her yesterday! ![]() Hi Flickr, this is Becca! Her Model Mayhem number is 788814. Becca covered in fake blood with hands cringed holding energy balls.
